By joining the Fujisan day tour, you will be able to experience the most famous sightseeing spots nearby Mt. Fuji. At 08:00, depart from the Shinjuku Subaru building, just next to the Shinjuku JR station west exit. At around 10:00 AM, arrive at Kawaguchiko Oishi Park where you will spend around 30 minutes. If the weather is good, you can capture a beautiful photo with the lake Kawaguchi and Mt. Fuji in the background. Take a walk around the lake, buy a special souvenir from the shop or just sit down and enjoy the incredible view.

At 11:00 AM, head to Fujisan Gogome, the 5th Station, where you will spend around 1 hour. Gogome is located halfway up Mount Fuji. Enjoy the view from the mountain, visit the traditional Japanese temple on the mountain and have a break at the snack shop. At 12:30 PM head to Oshino Hakkai, one of the most famous spots in the Fujisan area, for around 1 hour. "Hakkai" means "Eight lakes" as you can find 8 different lakes located there. You can also taste the water from Mount Fuji, shop at one of the souvenir shops and grab some food for your lunch.

At 02:00 PM, visit Gotemba Premium Outlet for around 2 hours. Gotemba premium outlet is one of the largest outlets in Japan. The most important point is that you can see Mt. Fuji from inside the outlet. Don't miss the chance to buy souvenirs at a reasonable price. At 06:00 PM, you will be dropped back at the Shinjuku Subaru building where your tour will end. Shinjuku is good for a night walk and dinner before going back to your hotel.

Nearly 32,000 green Kochia (also called “broom-grass” in Japanese, as they can be dried and made into brooms) are planted as seedlings by hand in July. As the plants grow, the space between them shrinks and the entire hill takes the form of a fluffy cloud. As fall progresses, the green kochia slowly turn a deep red. Come join us and experience a hands-on Zen derived Sumi-e (ink painting) class followed by a Macrobiotic mean with influences from Japanese Zen traditions. Enjoy how each brush strokes produce different tones and shades, and experience uniqueness of Sumi-e. You’ll bring home your artwork in a frame. The lesson takes place at Hanada Rosso, a macrobiotic and organic food cafe. Complete the experience by relaxing tea time. In the full course B, experience Buddhism through Harajuku Veggie Hamburger Steak, a Zen-Macrobiotic meal.

The painting begins with obtaining black ink by grinding ink-stick. Through this process, you can relax and meditate. A Zen experience.

Next, the instructor will teach you how to create gradation and how to draw flowers. You will be surprised by how Ink wash produces variations in shapes and tones. That emphasize  Sumi-e. Hands-on experience brings a spirit of fun and beauty of the Japanese culture. Regardless the level of your ability.

In addition to the basic brush techniques, the class will also draw flowers without using the brush. In the last part of the experience, you will create your original flowers, using techniques that you have learned. Let your imagination create your masterpiece! Take home your painting in a frame.

After the Sumi-e class, Hanada Rosso will be serving the following: Course A, organic tea and dessert. Course B, organic tea and dessert plus Harajuku Veggie Hamburger Steak. This is a collaboration workshop between Sumi-e artist and macrobiotic cafe!

Who is the Sumi-e artist?
The instructor of the class is Hideyuki Kawamura. He is an experienced Sumi-e artist and veteran live drawing performer. His specialties are hanging scroll, long vertical art work, live drawing and scenic painting. He is working on the Sumi_e_motion project to spread Sumi-e, Japanese traditional painting techniques. 

What about the macrobiotic cafe and dinner in course B?
The workshop will take place at Hanada Rosso, a cafe that serves macrobiotic and organic food. It was founded by Minako Hanada (1929-2013) who had over 30 years in macrobiotic culinary endeavors. The cafe serves a unique dinner based on the authentic Washoku cuisine of the Edo period and Buddhism thoughts in food. Harajuku Veggie Hamburger Steak (in course B) is healthy, delicious and vegan with a fusion of traditional Japanese and western taste.

Our instructor, who has mastery of Kaiseki cuisine, will guide you step by step how to make the dishes and decorate the plates. Specifically, you will learn, e.g., how to make Dashi (soup stock), how to cook rice, and how to use cooking utensils and prepare ingredients, so even beginner chefs can have a great time!  You will also enjoy sake tasting. The class will be held in English and/or Japanese.

 In this 3 hour cooking class (cooking: 2 hours & tasting: 1 hour), you can enjoy opportunities for: (1) learning authentic Japanese dishes and food culture from a chef with Kaiseki mastery; (2) enjoying Sake paired with the dishes; and (3) taking home the recipes for the authentic Japanese dishes (the recipes will vary from season to season).  Specifically you will learn, e.g., how to make Dashi (soup stock), how to cook rice properly, and how to use cooking utensils and prepare ingredients, so even beginner chefs can have a great time!  After preparing the dishes, you can enjoy the dishes you made with Japanese sake.  The cooking class will be held in English and/or Japanese.
