Discover some of Japan’s most famous highlights on a full-day guided tour from Tokyo. Travel to Mt Fuji’s bustling 5th Station and learn about the revered mountain. Continue to nearby Lake Ashi for a short boat cruise, followed by a ride on the Mt Komagatake Ropeway. Climb by aerial tram to the top of Mt Komagatake and get fantastic views of the Owakudani volcanic valley, Lake Ashi and Mt Fuji. Return to Tokyo by bullet train in the evening. Enjoy the ease of included transportation, entry fees and a knowledgeable guide.

After morning pickup at select hotels or designated meeting location in Tokyo, relax as your deluxe coach cruises along a scenic 2.5-hour route to Mt Fuji Visitor Center. Learn about the history and geology of Japan’s highest mountain from your guide and the informational exhibits about the revered mountain. From the second floor observation deck, you can get great views of Mt Fuji on a clear day.

After seeing the Visitor Center, return to your coach and proceed to Mt Fuji’s 5th Station, located about halfway up the mountain at 7,545 feet (2,300m). Take in the shrines, torii gates and shops that sell souvenirs, along with views of Mt Fuji and the surrounding lakes (subject to weather conditions). Soak in the invigorating atmosphere of 5th Station; you might even spot some climbers preparing for their adventure. Then have time to enjoy Japanese-style lunch (if you select the "+ Lunch" option at checkout). Otherwise, you have the option to buy your own meal.

After having a bite to eat, drive to nearby Lake Ashi, located in Hakone National Park. Step aboard your boat for a short cruise across the lake. Admire the spectacular scenery of pristine waters surrounded by Mt Komagatake, Mt Fuji and other mountains.

Disembark from the boat and head to the Mt Komagatake Ropeway, an aerial tram that takes you from the shores of Lake Ashi to the top of Mt Komagatake. Have time to walk around the mountain top and take in amazing views of Lake Ashi, the Owakudani volcanic valley and majestic Mt Fuji.

After visiting Hakone, transfer by coach to the evening bullet train (Shinkansen) for your return to Tokyo, where your guide will tell you how to get back to your hotel.

Please note: Views around Mt Fuji are always subject to weather conditions as mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable. Visibility tends to be better during the colder months, in the early morning and late evening.

If you want to see the highlights of beautiful Kyoto but have limited time, zip there and back by bullet train (Shinkansen) on this full-day tour from Tokyo. See Mt Fuji from the train, then visit Kyoto highlights including Sanjusangen-do Hall, Heian Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple on an afternoon city tour with an expert guide. Enjoy lunch upon arrival in Kyoto and transport by comfortable coach during the tour. Return to Tokyo on the evening bullet train to complete your excursion.

After early morning pickup at selected Tokyo hotels or the designated meeting location (depending on the tour option you select), transfer to Tokyo Station where you catch the bullet train (Shinkansen) to Kyoto. As you look out of the train window on a clear day, catch sight of revered Mt Fuji. After a 2-hour journey, arrive at mid-day to Kyoto Station where your local guide welcomes you.

Enjoy a Western-style lunch at the New Miyako Hotel before beginning your afternoon city tour in Kyoto. After your meal, travel by comfortable coach to the spectacular Heian-jingu Shrine, a Shinto structure built in 1895 to commemorate the 1,100 year anniversary of the founding of Kyoto. The shrine's design reproduced the architecture of an Emperor’s palace from an earlier era. Outside, walk through the lush gardens next to a large pond.

Next, travel to Sanjusangen-do Temple and marvel at its long wooden structure. Walk inside and be amazed by the main deity of the temple, the Thousand Armed Kannon, who is flanked by 1,000 life-size Buddhist statues that date to the 12th and 13th centuries. Afterward, head to the hills for great views over Kyoto and a visit to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a temple with several magnificent buildings, situated on a hilltop. Famous for its stunning beauty amid natural surroundings, Nikko has been a center of Shinto and Buddhist mountain worship for centuries. With an informative guide, visit the ornate complex of Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site decorated with wood carvings and gold leaf. Upgrade for a Japanese lunch, and then take in more sights at Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Falls. Enjoy round-trip coach transport, including hotel pickup.

Then enjoy the drive to Nikko, a small city at the entrance to Nikko National Park — a place of stunning scenic beauty.

The highlight here is the world-famous Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO-listed mausoleum of the first Tokugawa Shogunate that ruled Japan until 1868. This gorgeous complex contains more than a dozen colorful structures featuring the superb craftsmanship of Japan's 17th-century artisans, set amid a tranquil forest.

Spend approx. 1.5 hours exploring the Toshogu Shrine your guide, admiring the lavish gold-leaf decorations and ornate details, including five buildings categorized as National Treasures of Japan. Visit Japan’s iconic Mt Fuji and nearby Aokigahara Forest on a day trip from Tokyo. Discover the unique natural environment of this formerly active volcanic region, and see ice and wind caves that have been formed by lava. Stop at the 5th Station for breathtaking views of Mt Fuji from an altitude of 7,610 feet (2,305 meters). Your day trip ends in Tokyo’s bustling Shinjuku precinct.

In the morning of your tour, travel by coach two hours west from Tokyo to Mt Fuji, Japan's highest mountain. Drive up the mountain, admiring the stunning scenery as you make your way to the 5th station, the highest point on Fuji that can be reached by vehicle. Hop out for 30 to 40 minutes of free time to enjoy the views, take photos, browse the gift shop or visit one of the restaurants, if you wish.

The second half of your day trip begins as you head to Aokigahara Forest, aka the Sea of Trees, located at the base of Mt Fuji. Known for its unusual topography due to its volcanic makeup, the forest is home to above-ground tree roots, exposed lava flows, scattered chunks of volcanic rock and caves created by volcanic gas that collected below the ground and then exploded.

With your guide, enter the Narusawa Ice Cave, covered year-round by ice. This cave is off-limits to the public, so you’re only allowed to enter with your guide. Walk carefully over the wet, uneven, sometimes-icy surfaces, marveling at the ice formations deep in the cave.

When you leave the cave, you’ll be dropped off at the Fuji-Q Highland amusement park bus stop, where you’ll catch the bus back to Tokyo. Your bus ticket is provided by your guide, and your seat is already assigned and reserved, so don’t worry about waiting in line. While you wait for the bus, you can buy souvenirs or snacks at the concession stand, or check out the amusement park entrance, which is home to a large gift shop where you can buy candy and local wine or even enjoy a round of bowling (you may have an hour or more of wait time, depending on when you leave the cave).

The approximate 2-hour bus ride ends in Tokyo’s Shinjuku precinct, a vibrant shopping and entertainment area that will be busy and lively when you arrive — a great way to end your night!

Please note: Views around Mt Fuji are always subject to weather conditions, as mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable. Visibility tends to be better during the colder months, in the early morning and late evening.

Travel to Japan's Nagano Prefecture on this 12-hour private guided trip from Tokyo. Ride the fast Shinkansen (bullet) train, visit the 1,400-year-old Zenkoji Temple, and see snow monkeys soaking in the hot spring at Jigokudani Monkey Park.

Meet your guide at 7am at your Tokyo accommodations. Together with your travel companions (a maximum of six people) take the bullet train to Nagano Prefecture. The train leaves at 7:50am and takes about two hours.

Upon arrival at Nagano Station, take a walk around Zenkoji Temple. This temple has about 1,400 years of history and was built before Buddhism came to Japan, making it is a non-denominational place of worship. After exploring Zenkoji, visit the shopping street right in front, where you can shop for souvenirs and sample local cuisine (at own expense).

Afterward, visit Jigokudani Monkey Park, the highlight of the tour. Nagano is renowned as having some of the best hot spring spots in Japan, however, in the past, this one was feared by local people because of its powerful geyser and given the name Jigokudani, meaning "Hell Valley." The local wild snow monkeys do not seem to be afraid, however. Each winter they gather at the hot spring with their families. From a respectful distance, have fun taking memorable photos of snow monkeys soaking in the hot spring.

At the conclusion of the tour, your guide accompanies you back to Tokyo Station.
